Casandra Appleton, our witty Managing Editor is based in Minneapolis.

Who are you?

My name is Casandra. I’m 23 years old, currently working and living in Minneapolis.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

Oddly enough, I wanted to become a dentist. I liked going to the dentist as a kid, so I thought what the hell. I wish I had a cooler career to share, I feel most kids aspire to be astronauts or something.

What does success mean to you?

Success, to me, is waking up each morning and creating opportunity. Being genuinely happy with where you’re at is important to.

What quote inspires and motivates you to be yourself and do what you love?

“the universe took time on you, crafted you precisely, so you could offer the world something distinct from everyone else, so when you doubt how you were created, you doubt an energy greater than us both”  -Rupi Kaur

What does the world need more of? Less of?

KINDNESS, diverse mindsets, and self-love. The world needs less hate, judgement, and preservatives… lol

Name a woman whom you admire or look up to?

Jane Goodall. She was the first female to inspire me when I was young and make me feel “at-home” with my own dreams.

What characteristics do you most admire in other creative women?

Characteristics I admire in creative women vary. Every inspirational woman I’ve met or look up to are very different. They each have their own individual twist on whatever message or art they bring into the world. I respect women who are witty, sarcastic, vulnerable, bossy, humble, honestly the list goes on.

What’s your favorite thing to come home to after a long day of work?

Usually I will run an epsom salt bath, pour myself a glass of wine or make tea, suppose that depends on the day. Honestly, I love what I do, so the days never feel too long.

Which of your traits are you the most proud of?

I am most proud of my deep understanding of who I am as a person and what makes me tick. I think a lot of people go through life not getting to know themselves… I mean really getting to know themselves, flaws and all. I am very sure of what I want out of life and I think that’s a good trait to have.

Name your greatest success in your career. Proudest moment?

I have not gotten there yet, I will get back to you.

What surprises people most about you?

I can be shy, vulnerable, and often second guess myself.

What was your first job?

Working in a boutique in my hometown. I sold jewelry and clothes. It was very poorly run and the owner was solely concerned about how much money she was making in a day.

Who is your style icon and why?

Currently, Sophie Lopez. She is a badass, original, funky, and seriously rocks anything she is wearing. She pairs inexpensive items with maybe one expensive, designer item and all of her outfits pop. So many colors!

What are you most grateful for?

My health, my family, and the badass women and men inspiring me everyday.

What’s the weirdest thing about you?

I am just generally weird…

What are you excited for when you wake up in the morning?

HAHA, taking my vitamins and drinking my matcha. 23-years-old going on 65. No shame.

Did you go to college? If so, would you recommend it? Why or why not?

I went to Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL (2,000 miles away from my hometown) my first year and it was the best experience of my life. I was forced to really get to know myself and meet new people, in a seemingly foreign environment. After that first year, I studied Holistic Nutrition through a practitioner in LA, but changed my path again and ended up graduating with a Business Degree. I do recommend college because the world is advancing and it’s a place to make connections. Although, I do not believe that a sole degree is the reason for anyone’s success.

What do you want to be doing in ten years?

I would love to have a family. Little Swedish blue-eyed, blondes from my fiancé running around, driving me insane. Career wise, I would like to be right where I am. Working with Fedited but on a much larger scale. This company is the shit, can I say that? I would love to have a brand of my own someday.

What’s the best thing about what you do?

I’m genuinely happy. I’m passionate about Fedited’s missions, and I love my team. My ideas count for something in this company, and not a lot of people can say that.

Biggest piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Education: Business Administration Degree. Entrepreneurship Certification. Holistic Health and Natural Medicine Certification.

Motto: Be scared and do it anyway

Horoscope: Virgo
