In the era of social media, it is normal to feel jealous or sad when seeing other people’s ”perfect lives” on Instagram, but there’s also so much we can do to change our own lives. First and foremost, SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Come on, those lives ain’t real. I repeat – those lives ain’t real. There’s either so much behind those photos to look perfect that the people don’t have time to enjoy the real life, or it might be that there’s a whole other story in addition to those perfect pictures in that person’s life, a story that he or she might not be willing to tell online. Everyone has their struggles and their blessings, let’s focus on our own!

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

Your attitude makes the biggest difference. I mean, it’s e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. You can always find the positive aspect of every issue, no matter how difficult or negative the situation seems at first glance. Positivity is the key! The single and most important thing you can do in your life and for your career is to feel good. Just focus more on those things and actions that bring you joy. You can make a list of things that make your mood happier, and commit to do those things every day. That way your life may turn sooner than you even know it’s possible.

DREAM ON, BABY

Have you ever made a dream board? If not, do it right away. Seriously. Do it! Years ago, I first saw a dream board workshop at a fashion event in Helsinki, and I used to think dream boards are waste of time, a nice little hobby but just for those who love to make scrapbooks and that kind of stuff… but recently they have become an important tool for me to make my mindset clear. A year ago, in September I made a new dream board of my goals and everything I’d love to incorporate in my life. And boy, it worked. ALL MY DREAMS on the board have come true, in only one year. So new year, new dream board it is! You just need to remember the good feeling and work your ass off for your dreams, follow your intuition in this – as well as in your everyday life. Vibes don’t lie. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MAKE A PLAN

When you’ve successfully created a clear vision of your dream life in the next year, five or ten years and made the board, start really working for it. Think about your style, your daily actions, your relationships, your work – is it all getting you closer to your dreams? Is there a positive feeling in everything you’re encountering every day? Make a schedule for yourself and stick with it. It could be small steps that you take every day of the week, something to take you closer to your dream life. Remember, you don’t need to know or make a huge strategy of how you’ll make it to your goals, but just make the first little move in the right direction, step by step.

For me, it has been beneficial to create a weekly schedule to get everything done: I have specific tasks for every day of the week to work on different categories of my passions: Fedited.com, my art brand Atelier Emmi Kainulainen and the design brand CHAÎNE. For example, my Monday looks like this: Make updates for Fedited.com & Fedited Instagram, make an illustration for Atelier Emmi Kainulainen and have a photoshoot for CHAÎNE. I have also created daily routines that work well for me. As I mentioned earlier, feeling good should be the priority for everything, so I make sure to wander in nature every day with my puppy, get together with my friends, take baths and eat well. What are your daily actions for achieving your dreams?
